Bat research at Macoun Marsh- Canada

M. B. C. Hickey, PhD, Research Scientist and Education Program Leader from the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences and his team.

The little brown bat is becoming very rare due to a fungus called the white nose syndrome.

Last evening we recorded little brown bats, hoary bats, and possibly a big brown bat.  Our hope is to tag some of these bats to further our understanding of their populations.

Ultrasound detectors like this one are used to identify bat species.
